Dearest Family, Friends and Miscellaneous Other Citizens
What a week! Time here flies by and I find myself panicking as I realize that this transfer is more than half way through. Now that's just utterly ridiculous! This week we went on a division with the Sisters in Mosteiros. My temporary comp Sister Rocha was from Brazil and didn't speak english, so that was a bit tricky, but we were able to bond over our mutual love of the strawberry soda here and Bigfoot. It is also EXTREMELY HOT in Mosteiros and it makes me fear the day I leave Covo Figueira. On the other hand, I now have a very nice watch and sandal tan line.
We had the most beautiful hike to Tinteira this week and I just died inside over how green and perfect it was. No picture could do it justice, which is good because I forgot to bring my usb converter so you won't be getting any pictures this week, sorry! But it was totally worth the three mile hike it took to get there.
Tender mercy of the week: Finally got to eat bread (that isn't the Sacrament bread) for the first time in two weeks! Since being in Cape Verde, food has truly taken on a new meaning, especially here in Covo Figueira where things like bread, fresh fruit, milk, meat and restaurants don't exist. We also haven't had gas for over a week and won't get any until thursday, so we've been forced to eat a lot of canned tuna and explore the true potential of our microwave. You can really only go up once you've tried green mashed potatoes.
Once again, The Restoration movie has caused me to cry and it's kind of embarrassing how emotional I get, despite having already seen it like five times before. Worst part is that we watched it Portuguese, so it's not like I completely understand what's going on. I just still cry.
We taught a lot of good lessons this week. Everyday I relearn the importance of just opening your mouth and letting the Spirit guide you in what to say. Sometimes teaching is hard, especially to people of other faiths because they are very dedicated to their beliefs, which is great and admirable, but sometimes that makes it difficult for them to open their minds and hearts to our message. When that happens we always just take it back to Christ. The adversary can lie, steal and justify the natural man in this world all he wants, but he cannot touch the truthfulness of the message of Jesus Christ. No matter the variances throughout all Christendom, the immensity of the Ministry, Atonement, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ cannot be taken away, hidden or ignored. No matter which way the world goes, His true Gospel will always be restored.
I love you all and hope you have a great week! Also, if you find the time, Jesus The Christ is one of the best things ever written!
-Sister Bradley
