Nao Mudjer

2/18/2019

Dearest Family,

This week I had the realization that I've begun thinking in Portuguese, and I've received at least two compliments on my creole this last week!!! Don't get me wrong, pretty sure most brazilian five year olds still speak better than me and my accent is just about as white as it gets, buuuuut having a companion that only speaks portuguese has been a blessing for my language skills. I may or may not be forgetting how to speak english but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.

Can't believe that this transfer is already almost over, I feel like it was just a couple days ago when I came to Praia! But this last transfer has been fire! Not literally it's actually been uncharacteristically chilly here is Cabo Verde, but you know what I mean.

Desculpe Que Eu Estou Como Assim

1/28/2019

Yet another week and I haven't time to write much of a group email, sorry! But we've had another great semana! We definitely saw some miracles this week and were guided by the Lord to His children who he has prepared to receive the gospel. What a blessing it is to be here teaching these people and watching the gospel of Jesus Christ change their lives. Never let a day slip away without remembering all that our Savior has done for us. Thanks for all your love and prayers! Vamos em frente.

Dear Family,

Every week I promise to write a longer, better email, but as it has become apparent that that never actually happens, I am making no promises. The time is flying by! I officially made 6 months in the mission this week and I can't believe everything that's happened and how much I've changed in so little time, and still manages to feel like it all started just over a week ago. Everyone says it goes by even faster after your first six months, but with a third of my mission already gone I hope that in my case it could just slow down a bit! But I'm rather sure 2019 is really going to be my golden year, as I will be spending all of it here in Cabo Verde!

Boooa Tarde!

Wow, first week of the transfer in a new area, where do I even start? Palmarejo is basically the exact opposite of Covo Figueira. I have eaten more bread in the past week than I have in the past three months and I think it might result in an early death, but they bake chocolate INTO THE THE BREAD. It's sooooo good. Also, our area is massive (like: has a lot of people massive, not hike three miles to a small village next to the volcano massive) because we live in the middle of the city, and the chici-est part no less. So we always have somewhere to be, something to do and someone to teach. It's kind of relieving because we don't have to worry about not having anywhere to go, but at the same time I feel like we've been running around like crazy all week. So crazy but nice, I think I'll quite like it here.
