Bo e Doido

2/4/2019

Can't believe that this transfer is already almost over, I feel like it was just a couple days ago when I came to Praia! But this last transfer has been fire! Not literally it's actually been uncharacteristically chilly here is Cabo Verde, but you know what I mean.

But quick note while I'm on the topic, last week we brought one of our pesquisadores to see the baptisms of a couple people and during the thoughts beforehand, the speaker spoke about how today they were receiving the baptism of water and tomorrow they'd receive the baptism of fire (the holy ghost), but our pesquisadora had never heard the term "baptism by fire" before and thought that they meant it literally, lol, so that was fun to explain. But man, normally with everything that happens during the week I can’t keep straight what/ when things happen so I'm never quite sure what to say in my emails (in addition to the fact that I normally have no time) but this week I did myself the courtesy or remembering to write in my journal, woot!

This week we had some different experiences. We taught this pesquisadora one time but when we went back she wasn't home and we just hadn't gotten around to seeing her again for awhile.  But this week when one of our appointments fell through we stopped by her house to see if we could talk to her, her house was all dark but she invited us in and just started crying. She said she'd been praying for us to come. Some things had happened in her life that had left her really broken down, things that just shouldn't happen. To be honest I wasn't exactly sure what we could do to help, we were helpless with her temporal circumstance, but she said she wanted to change and there is literally no better way to change than through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm not sure what'll happen next, but at the very least the Spirit brought her a bit more peace that day and hopefully more peace and change in the days to come.

This week has had a few bumps in the road, from a recent convert getting a tattoo (ultimate facepalm) to receiving my fifth(?) marriage proposal while doing a street contact, haha. But powerful, I learn and grow more everyday here on the mission and I couldn't be more grateful for this opportunity to be serving the Lord and his children here in Cabo Verde. Already out of time AGAIN, mas é vida. I love you all dearly and hope you have a wonderful week!
